CENTRE FOR HEALTH STUDIES

Our vision is to provide training in healthcare disciplines to enhance accessible care towards providing universal health coverage aligned to the United Nations' sustainanble development goals.



The Centre for Health Studies were privileged to have run 6 courses in India last year. Two back to back Basic Surgical Skills Courses were run in partnership with ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on the 1st and 2nd of August 2019 followed by another on the 3rd and 4th of August 2019. The Surgical Skills Course for Primary Care Surgeons was held by the Centre for Health Studies, IADS on the 5th of August at ESIC Hyderabad supported by the Global Health Academy of University of Edinburgh.

In December 2019,, IADS ran three surgical cadaveric skills courses at ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad on 25th, 26th and 27th of December that were highly rated.

All the participants (100%) fed back that these courses would help them change their surgical practice and met their expectations. 96% said that they would recommend it to friends.

With the Global Health Academy, IADS convened a Leadership Development Workshop from four locations across the globe. Faculty based in Edinburgh in the UK, Kampala in Uganda and Hyderabad in India engaged with participants from four countries at the College of Medicine, Karbala University in Iraq. The feedback from this event was very positive.

IADS arranged for Osmania Medical College to obtain “HAL”, a high-fidelity simulator to teach medical students. IADS is in the process of organising training the faculty for simulation.

In the next year IADS expects to expand its portfolio to include courses on surgical safety, leadership development and medical education faculty training.

The Centre for Health Studies aims to provide educational support for doctors to the best international standards globally.

Courses


We plan to start an online series of CPD lectures and workshops in medicine, family medicine and medical education.
We are currently developing collaborations with the most prestigious academic medical royal colleges and universities to deliver blended online and classroom postgraduate medical degree programmes.


We very successfully organised a course on medical education to support the implementation of the new academic curriculum recomended by the Medical Council of India in February 2018. It was attended by delegates from 16 medical colleges in Telangana. The attendees included international delagates as well.
